Eleven workers are free but awaiting court after Niagara Regional Police raided an Ontario medical cannabis greenhouse last Thursday. Almost 850 outdoor plants were seized, according to the police. The operation’s medical license stipulated that only indoor plants could be grown. The police obtained a search warrant after complaints from neighbours about the smell.
According to police, four separate Designated-Person Production Licenses were found on the property during the raid, but none of the license-holders were present at the time of the raid.
The value of the seized plants is estimated to be about $1.6 million.
The Lakeshore Road greenhouse had previously caught authorities’ attention by failing to adhere to municipal building codes and property standards.
The police raid came one day after the town performed its own inspection.
