SANTA ANA, Calif., Nov. 9, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Kush Bottles, Inc. (OTCQB: KSHB), a supplier of packaging supplies, accessories, and branding solutions for the legal cannabis industry, announced that its Co-Founder and CEO, Nicholas Kovacevich, commented on the election, in which several states voted to legalize marijuana.
“Our nation now sees that legal cannabis is not a Democrat or a Republican issue,” Kovacevich stated. “Medical and adult use cannabis was approved in states that voted for candidates from both parties,” he added. “Cannabis is no longer about politics. It is about the benefits of having a regulated industry that provides jobs, tax revenues, and opportunities – with transparency and accountability.”
Four states approved recreational, adult use cannabis. An additional four states approved cannabis for medical use.
Here is a summary of cannabis election results:
California: The 6th largest economy in the world legalized the adult use of marijuana. Already the largest cannabis market in the nation with only medical use approved, experts are projecting significant growth in the sector.
Massachusetts: 53% of voters supported adult use, recreational cannabis in the state. This may also provide impetus for neighboring states, notably New York, to enact similar legislation.
Nevada: With over 42 million visitors each year, the state’s newly approved adult-use cannabis market has immense potential.
Maine: Adult use, recreational cannabis is now legal in two northeast states with the passage of Question 1 yesterday in Maine.
Florida: The vote on Amendment 2 passed with 71% in favor of introducing medical marijuana. Florida, with a population of over 19 million, is the first state in the south to legalize cannabis for adult use.
North Dakota: Voters passed Measure 5, with 64% voting in favor of allowing medical marijuana access.
Arkansas: Voters passed Issue 6, allowing medical marijuana access, with 53% voting for the ballot measure. Along with Florida, this vote is significant for the extension of medical marijuana in the South.
Montana: 57% of voters supported the ballot measure that rolled back restrictions, to open-up the market that was initially approved in 2004.
“Twenty-nine states, plus Washington, D.C. will now have a regulated, legal cannabis system. We will look back on this election as a tipping point for the nation, and for the cannabis industry,” Kovacevich said.
