A quick-thinking small business owner in Springfield, Mass. has generated a lot of online buzz after his marijuana-themed mascot crashed a live TV weather report.
When Dave Mech, the owner of a gardening supply store catering to cannabis cultivators, saw the meteorologist of a local TV channel setting up before the camera, he saw it as a good chance for some free marketing and jumped into his “Potsquatch” costume of a sasquatch-type creature covered in pot leaves.
“I was in my store waiting for some people from New York and I saw them setting up,” Mech told The Huffington Post. “I saw the bushes behind them and it was just too perfect.”
While he’s not the most surefooted of Bigfoot after wiping out twice in the snow, the video has gained a lot of traction online.
“At one point, I had 1,000 hits on the video and thought, ‘Cool,’” Mech said. “I came back and it was at half a million.”
