Patients and advocates can celebrate the recent Allard decision later this month at a victory party in Abbotsford.
The Mar. 18 One Love For Patients event, organized by Stephanie Leigh Hooker, was originally planned as a fundraiser to coincide with the one year anniversary of the original Allard Vs HMTQ trial before the appeal decision was announced.
Co-organizer Jenn Bennett wrote that while patients aren’t sure what will come next from the government on medical cannabis, they finally have some good news to celebrate.
“There are patients celebrating, while others still wait for resolution, which causes mixed emotions,” wrote Bennett on Facebook. “Let’s not lose our ‘One Love For The Patients’ momentum and have some fun while we wait to see what we can do and who we can help next.”
The event will serve as a fundraiser, with live music, vendors and numerous sponsors that have donated prizes and services.
“It’s been a long road but I’m so happy for us all, we’ve waited a long time for this,” said Bennett, in a posted video. “I know it’s not over, but this is probably the biggest hump in the road.”
Lead lawyer on the case, John Conroy, will be in attendance to offer his words about the case and the future issues facing patients.
