Do you care about your skin? Hemp seed oil may not be the first thing you think of but, it has tons of benefits for your skin!
We are all focused on the next best thing when it comes to our skin. Am I right? Being a Certified Health Coach I’m always looking for new holistic products that are both safe for you and can help your skin. Many people said they loved hemp seed oil, so… I got curious. This is what I’ve found out about hemp seed oil benefits for the skin.
What is Hemp Seed Oil?
Hemp seed oil is made from the seeds of the hemp plant (cannabis plant cultivated for non-drug use). It is currently being used in cosmetics, skin oil, and nutritional supplementation. It is commonly confused for its close counterpart CBD oil which is made out of the leaves, stalks, and flowers of the hemp plant.
How can it help?
Retains Moisture: Due to them being high in omega acids (3, 6, 9) they strengthen and repair the skin barrier and help keep moisture trapped inside.
Reduce Inflammation: As stated before by healthline.com, “Omega-3 fatty acids can reduce the production of molecules and substances linked to inflammation, such as inflammatory eicosanoids and cytokine”.
Antibacterial Qualities: Though this is still being looked at more, some studies have suggested that hemp oil has antibacterial properties. Due to this, it’s believed that it can help with treatments for acne, eczema, psoriasis, skin cancer, and rosacea.
Anti-acneic:Â Can modulate skin oil production, this is great if you’re suffering from acneic or oily skin.
How do I use it?
For the application of hemp oil, it’s pretty straight forward. You don’t want to use too much, or too little. Start with a drop on your finger and gently apply to any area on the skin that you want it to help with. If you don’t find it in oil form you will most likely come across it in a hydrator and anti-inflammatory creme.
