Will “Wake and Bake” be replaced by “Wake and Slake”?
Brewbudz are definitely hoping so with their cannabis-infused, Keurig-compatible, 100% compostable, single-brew coffee pods.
As Brewbudz Vice President Jeffry Paul told Westword, “It’s an opportunity to bring together two different rituals in life. Drinking coffee or tea is something that’s part of your every day…. There’s also a ritual for marijuana, whether it’s medicinal or recreational.”
The California-based company’s line of coffees, teas, and cocoas are currently available in 6 states, with something for both recreational and medicinal users.
Recreational users get pods with 10 mg of THC and medicinal users get pods with 25-50 mg of CBD. The reason for this is because THC is the psychoactive ingredient in cannabis that gets you high (which recreational users want) while CBD (which is not psychoactive) is praised for its pain relieving qualities which makes it ideal for medicinal users.
Brewbudz is also aware of the different effects of sativas and indicas. Sativas are generally more uplifting and creative and that’s why the coffees and caffeinated teas will be infused with sativa-dominant strains to give you a little extra kick in the morning, whereas indicas are more calming and relaxing, making them ideal for the night-time teas such as chamomile.
It’s also important to note that Brewbudz’ cannabis infused products are flower-based edibles, which means they don’t use extraction-derived oils- inside each pod is a mix of the cannabis plant and beverage of choice.
Billed on its website as a “discreet method to deliver the medicine you require”, it gives both recreational and medicinal users a low-key alternative to sparking one up in the morning, and is a promising sign for the future of cannabis edibles.
