The day after thousands attended the 4/20 event at Sunset Beach in Vancouver, the chair of the city’s park board said she doesn’t want the group back in 2017.
A vocal opponent of the annual rally and celebration’s move from the Vancouver Art Gallery since it was first announced, Sarah Kirby-Yung said organizers were dishonest with the information provided to staff and claimed cannabis was being sold to minors.
“The Vancouver Park Board has been really vocal from the beginning that we didn’t want to have the event at Sunset Beach, we don’t think it’s an appropriate location,” Kirby-Yung said. “The board will be looking at all options to avoid having it here in 2017.”
Nine staff members were at the beach this morning picking up garbage left behind, hoping to have the beach cleaned by this afternoon.
