Health Canada licensed cannabis producer Canopy Growth Corp. subsidiary Tweed Inc. has received approvals in Canada and Germany to export medical cannabis for German patients.
Medical patients in Germany are able to access cannabis through pharmacies, but there are no local producers. Tweed plans to launch two strains in the country with plans to expand in the market.
Canopy has announced similar programs to export medical cannabis to Brazil and Australia and licensed producer Tilray has begun shipping cannabis oil capsules to patients in Croatia.
“Introducing Tweed product to German medical cannabis patients is an exciting and groundbreaking event,” said Canopy CEO Bruce Linton. “Patients will soon have a new choice in variety for their medical cannabis, and we are honoured to be involved in the changing landscape for German access and choice.”
