Some rock stars aren’t just rocking the stage — they also rock their own cannabis business.
With the creativity and empathy-enhancing effects, it makes sense why many musicians are open about their love of Mary Jane, whether for creativity, medical reasons, or just for fun. You may have heard of brands like Leafs by Snoop, TICAL, or Marley, a few popular musician-backed cannabis businesses. However, these six rockers and their lesser-known cannabis brands deserve a little bit of the spotlight too.
6 popular rockers joining the cannabis industry.
Clown (Shawn Crahan)
The Slipknot percussionist got creative during the Covid-19 lockdowns and joined Heavy Grass and HashBone with his cannabis line, Clown Cannabis.
The signature line of Clown Cannabis contains a potent uplifting blend of 75 percent Indica flower and 25 percent Paradise Citrus bubble hash with an amazing lab-tested THC level of 40 percent or higher. I am sure fans will enjoy this at home and even more at a Slipknot concert.
Ivan Moody
Five Finger Death Punch Vocalist Ivan Moody has his own CBD line, Moody’s Medicinals, offering products from drinks to lip balm.Â
After months of vocal abuse on the job, Moody needed a throat spray. His problem was most contained sugars or alcohol. These things weren’t going to work for the recovering addict. Necessity is the mother of invention, and this is the inception behind Moody’s Medicinals, a pure CBD product line.
Moody’s offers a variety of excellent products for anyone in the market for CBD.
Mike Dirnt
The Green Day bassist is an investor for Goldenseed which owns 100 ace farms outside of Santa Cruz, California. Half of Goldenseen is all about growing cannabis and hemp for medical and recreational use.
Mike first got involved when his wife, Brittney Cade, underwent chemotherapy for breast cancer. “She couldn’t drink or eat and was constantly nauseous,” Dirnt explains in an interview with Variety. “The difference after she started taking these pot pills was like night and day. There was light at the end of the tunnel.”
Goldenseed products are in 85 California dispensaries where you can purchase both flower or pre-rolls. Drint recommends the Sunset Sherbet indica hybrid pre-rolls with terpene chips — winner of the High Times NorCal Cannabis Cup and Hempcon.
Shavo Odadjian
The System Of A Down bassist is one founder of 22Red. 22Red is not just a cannabis dispensary — the brand also focuses on fashion, music and wellness.Â
Odadjian likes to use his creativity and passion in his cannabis business. He came up with the brand name 22Red because of his interest in numerology and synesthesia. The number 22 represents a major life event to Odadjian, and the energy towards his dreams, like the way he has put his energy towards his cannabis brand. 22Red offers a strong Indica- dominant Hybrid called DC22 and LA Punk. According to lab test DC22 test at 34.9 and LA Punk test at 30.2 percent THC.
22Red line of premium cannabis and hemp-derived CBD selections are chosen carefully with character and the consumers in mind. All their products are hand-selected by Odadjian himself to ensure the buyers receive the best quality.
Gwar
This iconic 80s heavy metal band teamed up with multimedia brand Heavy Consequence to launch their cannabis line Bud of Gods.
Bud of Gods produces small batches from the Sour Tsunami flower, an indica-favouring hybrid with a tropical citrus taste. They have everything from gummies to pre-rolls, including delta-8 products.
Hollywood Undead
When J-Dog is not on our tour, he is in his garden. The nu-metal band Hollywood Undead came out with their cannabis brand Dove and Grenade Industries when Vocalist and Guitarist Jorel Decker (J-Dog) discovered his love of growing cannabis.
Decker started by making edibles and gummies for his father in hospice with cancer. When his father passed away, the grief took Decker away from his plants and his band. One afternoon in his garden, he knew he couldn’t let either of those things die and brought the rest of the band in on his plan to create Dove and Grenade, a cannabis line named after one of their songs.Â
