A medical cannabis facility is being proposed for Collingwood’s west end.
Georgian Bay Biomed has submitted a site plan application to the municipality for a 96,000 square foot facility on Mountain Road.
Trevor Houghton, Senior Planner for the Town of Collingwood, said the company has submitted a site plan, which has been reviewed by town staff.
Houghton said the site, which is located on the south side of Mountain Road next to the Agnora Glass facility, is zoned for industrial. He said there isn’t likely to be a public meeting.
“As far as we’re concerned, it’s a permitted use,” he said.
Tim Boosamra, CEO of Biomed, said the company is currently working through the process to be licensed by Health Canada as a medical cannabis producer. He said the town, “has been absolutely wonderful to deal with and extremely supportive.”
