This year’s annual Emerald Cup in Santa Rosa was the biggest yet. Which probably won’t come as much of a surprise given that residents of California voted to legalize recreational cannabis use last month.
“It was the best weed event I’ve ever been to,” said Craig Ex, better known as the “The Expert of Expert Joints” on Pot TV, over the phone from the Oakland airport Monday morning. “The quality of products was off the chain and the whole event was second to none. It was an honour and a pleasure to be part of it and I can’t wait until next year.”
Ex, who was attending his first Emerald Cup, said the highlight of the trip was having the chance to interview legendary reggae star Damien Marley and talk about his latest projects.
“Getting to talk to him was really dope,” said Ex. “He talked about his new vape pen that he has coming out with Ocean Grown Extracts. We talked about his upcoming Prison Project and his new Stoney Hills album coming out in April.”
But not all attendees had a chance to see Marley in person due to ticket problems, which resulted in many people unable to get into his concert. Event founder Tim Blake took to Facebook to apologize for the confusion.
“There are definitely growing pains this year and we want to sincerely apologize to the attendees that were not able to see last nights performances,” Blake wrote. “We have always included music as part of our admission, so attendees had a choice to catch it and capacity was never an issue. Last night was not the case with Damian Marley and we deeply apologize. As we move forward we will make the music experience a separate ticket.”
