The cannabis community came together for Canadian veterans at a fundraiser event hosted by Victoria’s the Green Ceiling.
Watch this highlight video from host Craig Ex from Expert Joints where a packed house had fun raising money for an amazing cause at a charity poker night last month organized by Smiling Buddah, Canna Events, Thompson Caribou Concentrates, and Potent Industry.
All funds raised at the event were put towards Wounded Warriors Canadaand the PTSD Association of Canada.Â
And, with Remembrance Day just a few days away, several cannabis businesses will offer cannabis products free of charge to veterans.
Derrick Sim from Thompson Caribou Concentrates said organizations like Smiling Buddha Inc, Expert Joints, Glacial Gold Premium Extracts, Potent Industry and others will be taking part in the offer Nov. 1–10 2016.
Canada’s veterans deal with a staggering frequency of issues after returning from service. In Canadian Forces data obtained by the Globe & Mail, at least 59 Canadian Afghanistan veterans took their own lives, and, six of the 158 deaths during the 13-year-long mission were also due to suicide.
This Friday, another fundraiser in Port Coquitlam offers the cannabis community an additional opportunity to pay tribute to Canadian veterans.
“All proceeds from the day’s sales + all funds raised via Smiling Buddah Inc, Thompson Caribou Concentrates & Cannabis Culture prize package raffles will be donated to our veterans,” organizers wrote.Â
