Aurora Cannabis Inc. (TSXV: ACB) is pleased to provide further detail regarding the location of its 800,000 square foot cannabis production facility in Leduc County. The “Aurora Sky” facility is currently under construction at the Edmonton International Airport (EIA), where, subject to certain conditions, the Company will lease 30 acres from the Edmonton Regional Airports Authority.
The unique location of Aurora Sky provides a number of major competitive advantages, including access to abundant and reliable low-cost power, as well as unparalleled proximity to infrastructure and essential services, such as gas, water, sewage, public transportation, courier services, and international customs for clearing supplies and equipment. Furthermore, the location facilitates capitalizing on opportunities for future export of product and genetics to legally authorized jurisdictions around the world.
“This is a pivotal initiative for Leduc County, for Alberta, the Canadian cannabis sector, and the global cannabis industry,” said Terry Booth, CEO. “We are very proud of Aurora Sky. This is not just because it’s the world’s most advanced cannabis facility envisioned, but it will become an important contributor to the local economy, both through investments and job creation.”
Myron Keehn, Vice President of Commercial Development at EIA, said, “Aurora’s new facility will benefit from high-quality services available on site at EIA, including bonded warehousing, ground transportation access and air cargo connections across the country. EIA is already a major economic driver, with a GDP impact of over $1.1 billion annually, and with this and other new investments, over 2,000 new jobs will be created in 2017 through Aerotropolis development at EIA.”
“Aurora Sky will prepare the company to meet the rapidly growing medical demand, as well as position us for the soon to be legalized recreational market with the world’s largest and most sophisticated cannabis production facility,” said Neil Belot, Aurora’s Chief Brand Officer. “Our new facility’s location at Edmonton International Airport brings clear competitive advantages, and, we believe, reaffirms the Aurora Standard as the industry benchmark for innovation, leadership, and strategic execution.”
