New York, New York, it’s a helluva town. You could go and visit without a set reason because there is so much to do and see.   • The first pizza was made in the heart of Little Italy back in 1905. Born in Naples Italy, Gennaro Lombardi established Lombardi’s Pizza and it’s still serving pizza today. 
  • A number of mainstream food dishes were initially created in NYC; Chicken and waffles, hotdogs, red velvet cake, and eggs benedict are NYC originals. Depending on the location, a permit to sell hotdogs streetside can cost as much as two hundred thousand dollars a year.
  • In the early 19th century, Manhattan was known for its oysters. Unfortunately, due to pollution and overharvesting, New York’s oyster beds have been destroyed.
